On a more regular basis we have a large number of instructors based locally who are here regularly. We have two regular instructors who teach on a weekly basis : -

Charlie Micklem’s first great success was 2nd Best Boy at the Pony Club Championships in the year that Richard Walker won. Richard went on to win Badminton the next year on the same horse Pasha. Charlie won his first Point-to-Point at 16 and in all won 50 races in point-to-points and under NH rules.
Charlie was co-jockey to Lucinda Green, won his first 3DE and rode round Badminton and Burghley twice – producing the second best X-Country ride at Badminton behind Mark Phillips. Charlie was Long Listed for the 1980 Olympics.
Since “coming of age” Charlie has taught in Australia, New Zealand, Tasmania, Austria, Denmark, California and Ireland. Now based locally in Chitterne for the last few years Charlie has concentrated on teaching in this area and is well known for his sound advice and has a fine reputation as an instructor.
